Registered nurses at Community First Medical Center in Chicago are proud to have reached a tentative agreement on their first union contract.

On Wednesday, Oct. 27, registered nurses from UC Irvine Medical Center will hold a virtual press conference to demand the university address critical, ongoing staffing and patient safety issues highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Registered nurses at HCA’s Regional Medical Center of San Jose, will hold an informational picket on Tuesday, Oct. 26 to demand safe patient staffing and the adherence to the state-mandated nurse-to-patient laws.

NNU applauded an announcement by the White House of plans to distribute Covid-19 vaccine doses to 28 million children aged 5 to 11.

In a letter to the FTC, NNU urged it to investigate the proposed sale of five Salt Lake-area hospitals to HCA Health which could create monopoly conditions that result in higher prices and a decline in the quality of care for residents.

Registered nurses at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. will hold a socially distanced action to demand the hospital address chronic short-staffing issues that nurses say put patients and RNs at risk.

The nurses have filed unfair labor practice charges against the hospital, charging that management has failed to engage in good faith bargaining with the union.
