Nurses Applaud San Francisco Board of Supervisors’ Unanimous Vote to Support the Medicare for All Act – H.R. 1384
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday night to support a resolution introduced by Supervisor Sandra Lee Fewer endorsing the Medicare for All Act, H.R. 1384. Rep. Pramila Jayapal introduced the bill in the House of Representatives last month. The legislation, which already has 107 co-sponsors, would guarantee comprehensive healthcare to all residents, slash patient and family costs for care, and ensure real patient choice.

Nurses Volunteer to Provide Urgently Needed Medical Care to Migrants Released from ICE Detention
The Registered Nurse Response Network (RNRN), a disaster-relief project of the California Nurses Foundation and National Nurses United, is sending its sixth team of volunteer nurses to Tucson, Ariz., March 15 through March 17 to provide basic medical support to migrants and asylum seekers recently released from federal detention.

Florida Nurses Fight to Ban Fracking, Protect the Planet
Several National Nurses Organizing Committee RNs representing Florida's Gulf Coast traveled to the state capital in Tallahassee March 13 to call on their lawmakers to ban fracking. There are currently five bills in Florida’s House and Senate that call for a ban on fracking, but several of the bills have loopholes that will allow big oil to start fracking in the Sunshine State.

Outraged by Illegal Threats, O’Connor and St. Louise Nurses Charge County for further Violations of Rights
California Nurses Association (CNA) filed new charges with the California Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) on March 8, alleging Santa Clara County violated state law when it threatened to retaliate against registered nurses at O’Connor Hospital in San Jose and St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy for exercising their fundamental labor rights.
