he National Council for Occupational Safety and Health has named Johns Hopkins Hospital to the “2019 Dirty Dozen List of Employers Who Put Workers and Communities at Risk.” The list is published each year to mark Workers’ Memorial Week, observed around the world, honoring those who have been injured, suffered illnesses or lost their lives at work.

Historic Nevada Workplace Violence Prevention Bill Passes Major Hurdle

Nevada Nurses rally against workplace violence

Health care workers with National Nurses Organizing Committee-Nevada/National Nurses United (NNOC/NNU) and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1107 are excited to announce the state’s first workplace violence prevention bill, A.B. 348, passed a major hurdle as the Nevada Assembly overwhelmingly approved the measure last night. The bill now goes to the Senate.

National Nurses United (NNU), the largest U.S. union and professional association of registered nurses, is hosting an event this Sept. 12 - 15 in San Francisco. The Global Nurses Solidarity Assembly will involve nearly 2,000 people, predominantly RNs and women from throughout the country as well as from more than two dozen international RN and health care worker unions.

The California Nurses Association is pleased to announce that the tentative agreement reached between the union’s RN bargaining team and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has been overwhelmingly approved by the registered nurses in voting ending April 19.
 
Henry Mayo RNs say the new three-year collective bargaining agreement covering 650 nurses will strengthen their ability to protect patients and improve the hospital’s recruitment and retention of experienced RNs.
