Registered nurses at Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Cancer Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif. will hold a two-day strike on July 13 and July 14 to protest the administration’s refusal to address RNs’ deep concerns about unsafe staffing conditions.

RNs at two Prime Healthcare hospitals in Nevada and California and nurses and health care workers at a Prime facility in California gave notice that they will hold a sympathy strike for one day on September 15 in solidarity with striking nurses at Olympia Fields Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Nurses at another Chicago hospital and at a hospital in Lewiston, Maine, will hold informational pickets in solidarity with Olympia Fields RNs on the same day.

Their tax filings that year, however, show only $3.5 million in net contributions to financial assistance, the typical measure of charity care spending. This accounts for only 0.42% of their expenses, a paltry 1/3 of the median amount among hospitals.
