Registered nurses who work at Kaiser Permanente San Rafael facilities will hold a rally on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025 to protest Kaiser’s plans to lay off 42 RNs and NPs from their outpatient clinics despite the health care giant posting nearly $13 billion in profits last year.

National Nurses United today warned that President Trump’s order to forcibly remove, jail, or involuntarily commit unhoused people from Washington, D.C. streets is not only a violation of their civil and human rights, but will also damage the city’s health care infrastructure by flooding hospitals with a surge of patients who don’t need to be there.

At a town hall on Thursday, registered nurses with California Nurses Association/National Nurses United – along with local elected officials and leaders and members of community organizations from Bakersfield and the Central Valley – vowed to take on the elected officials and corporations that are destroying public programs like Medicaid in order to fund tax cuts for billionaires.

Registered nurses at Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur, Ga., will hold a rally on Tuesday, August 12 in response to proposed cuts to services for homeless and high-risk veterans who need mental health services.

The nation's largest union of registered nurses provided this statement in response to the announcement to terminate collective bargaining agreements for many VA bargaining-unit employees, including some 16,000 nurses represented by National Nurses United at 23 facilities.
