In a letter officially sent to the Illinois Department of Public Health today, the JPH RNs cited 28 documented instances of unsafe staffing, all previously reported to management, serving to prove what the nurses say, “that Jackson Park Hospital’s staffing crisis is intentional."

The registered nurses of Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center (JPH), on Chicago’s South Side, are taking a stand for their patients on Thursday, at a press conference announcing that years’ worth of forms documenting unsafe staffing and dangerous patient care conditions—long ignored by administration—will be delivered to the Illinois Department of Public Health and other regulatory agencies.

Oakland: Protesters Rally to Keep Youth Rehabilitation Center Open

About 150 people gathered Monday outside a teen addiction rehabilitation center to protest its possible closure. Sutter Health's Alta Bates Summit Medical Center has been trying to shed Thunder Road Adolescent Treatment Centers for the past two years, which runs an annual $800,000 deficit. Alameda County is working with Sutter to find a provider to take over the program.

The registered nurses of Newton Wellesley Hospital, who are negotiating a new contract with Partners Health Care, will conduct an informational picket outside the Wellesley-based hospital on April 16 from 2 – 4:30 p.m. to protest efforts by Partners to boost its multi-million dollar profits margin by cutting patients access to appropriate nursing care.

Registered nurses at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia will hold a vigil late Thursday afternoon to protest demands by the hospital administration for significant cuts in nurses’ legal rights and the hospital’s delays for talks on a new collective bargaining agreement.
