University of Chicago RNs Set to Strike April 30

Some 1,550 registered nurses who work at the University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC) are preparing to hold a one-day strike April 30. UCMC will be preventing nurses from returning to work for an additional four days following the strike.

Nurses Strengthen Patient Advocacy, Retain Experienced RNs In New Contract With USC- Verdugo Hills

Registered nurses at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital have overwhelmingly voted to ratify a first union contract with hospital management, culminating a yearlong campaign persuading the University of Southern California to invest in patient care improvements at the hospital. The agreement includes contract protections for nurses to advocate for improved patient care, as well as wage and benefit improvements to enhance recruitment and retention at the hospital.

Salinas Nurses Hold March and Vigil to Protest Hospital’s Staffing Cuts

Feeling empty and quiet on San Pablo hospital’s last full day

On Tuesday, the financially strapped medical center, the only public hospital that serves the 250,000 residents between Berkeley and Vallejo, will close its doors after 60 years of providing care. The closure leaves many people in West Contra Costa County struggling to find new doctors and hospitals and hoping not to need emergency services.

Henry Mayo Newhall RNs Announce May 1 Strike Date

With hospital administrators continuing to toe a hard line in contract talks Monday, registered nurses at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia called for a one-day strike Friday, May 1, joining more than 6,400 registered nurses – including over 2,300 in Los Angeles County – who have also announced plans to be on strike that week.
