Baltimore nurses to hold historic strike for patient safety

RNs at Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Md., will hold a one-day strike from July 24, 7 a.m. to July 25, 6:59 a.m., to protest Ascension management’s refusal to address their urgent concerns about patient care, safe staffing, and high staff turnover in contract negotiations. This notice follows a nearly unanimous strike authorization vote on May 16.

Registered nurses at Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Md., decisively voted to maintain their representation from National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United. Nurses recertified NNOC/NNU as their union representation, winning by a larger margin than their original union election in November 2023.

Registered nurses at Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Md. voted in early November to join National Nurses Organizing Committee/National Nurses United. This victory marks the first time in Baltimore history that registered nurses have unionized a hospital.
