Members of the Massachusetts Senior Action Council (MSAC), along with other health care and consumer advocates, will hold a demonstration today at 3 p.m. outside the Boston offices of the Massachusetts Hospital Association to protest the industry’s recently announced campaign to push Congress to raise the age for Medicare eligibility from age 65 to 67.

New York – The nation’s largest organization of nurses today announced it will set up a first aid station Friday to provide basic medical assistance to participants in the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York, an effort that will be expanded to other cities where protests continue.

When world leaders gather for the G20 summit in France early next month to discuss the worsening global economic crisis, they will get some extra advice from nurses around the world, thanks to an international effort initiated by National Nurses United (NNU) and the global union federation Public Services International (PSI).

Ann Arbor, Michigan – Over 1,200 University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) registered nurses rallied at Liberty Park, marched from downtown Ann Arbor to Medical Center Drive, and picketed for two contracts outside the hospital: the Main Street Contract and a fair contract from UMHS management for 4,000 RNs. The combined event was held on Wednesday, October 12 beginning at 4:30 pm.
