Workplace Violence Legislation Passes Senate

LANSING -- The Michigan Nurses Association is pleased to announce the passage of the Workplace Violence bills, SB 250 and SB 360, out of the Senate today. The bills were sponsored by Senator Goeff Hansen (R-34).

California Senate Approves RN-Sponsored Bill To Reduce Workplace Violence in Hospitals

The California Senate late Monday approved a bill intended to reduce a growing number of incidents of workplace violence in hospitals. SB 718 is authored by Sen. Leland Yee of San Francisco and sponsored by the California Nurses Association/National Nurses United. The bill next hears to the Assembly Health Committee.

LA RNs Win First-in the Nation Workplace Safety Benefit

Registered nurses at Centinela Hospital in Inglewood, Calif. have enthusiastically approved a new agreement that most notably includes a precedent-setting needlestick and workplace violence insurance benefit funded by the employer, the California Nurses Association/National Nurses United announced today. More than 600 RNs represented by CNA/NNU overwhelmingly voted to accept the pact in ratification membership meetings held on Wednesday and Thursday.

California Nurses to Testify for Hospital Workplace Violence Bill, A.B. 30 (Hayashi)

Tomorrow, Deborah Burger, RN, and co-president of the California Nurses Association (CNA) will testify, before the Assembly Health Committee in support of A.B. 30 – legislation that aims to prevent the escalating tide of workplace violence occurring throughout California’s hospitals. The law will hold hospitals accountable for implementing more effective policies to protect nurses and patients alike in healthcare settings.
