OSHA's New Severe Injury Reporting Requirement: One Year In

A new recordkeeping requirement went into effect January 1, 2015, requiring employers to report all work-related amputations and injuries requiring hospitalization to federal OSHA within 24 hours. This was in addition to the long-standing requirement to report all work-related fatalities to OSHA within 8 hours.

Practice What We Preach

What does it mean for nursing if family members and unlicensed staff are trained to perform certain functions nurses do? For the 20 RN members of National Nurses United’s Joint Nursing Practice Commission, these are questions they ponder and debate daily.

The past two weeks have been a "Where's Waldo" moment for President Obama. Gaslight 2011: Making Us Clamor for Our Own Demise

Michael Moore is hosting his film festival in Michigan this week, and I sure hope they are showing “Gaslight” from 1944. The American electorate would be wise to watch it again and to put into context the messages of our elected officials as they work us to do their bidding on the debt deal and beyond. There are acting awards to be given in the latest turn of events – the President and the Speaker of the House might vie for best actor’s honors while the Senate Majority Leader and Tea Party darling Eric Cantor would surely compete for best supporting actors among a plethora of worthy players.
