Voter Registration Guide

Basics:

  • Deadline to register to vote in the June 7, California Presidential Primary is May 23.  For mail submissions the registration application must be postmarked by May 23.
  • The prospective voter must be 18 on or by the Election Day in question.
  • Registration applications require a signature. However, if you have a California Driver’s license or ID Card you may qualify to register online without a physical signature. Your signature on file with the DMV would automatically be used in an online registration.
  • If you are already registered, a vote-by-mail request can be found online. See link below. That request requires a physical signature and must be downloaded and signed.  A vote-by-mail request must be received by May 31
  • If Voting-by-mail (Absentee Ballot) your California address should be listed as ‘Residence’ on the registration form; the ‘Mailing Address’ should be where your ballot should be sent (anywhere in the US).  Vote-by-mail ballots will placed in the mail by the County Registrars beginning May 9 through May 31.
  • If you are registered as “No Party Preference” and you wish to vote in the Democrat Party Presidential Primary you must request a Democrat Party Ballot either at the polling place or, if registered as vote-by-mail, you must call your County Registrar found in the below link and request that you be sent a Democrat Party ballot.  If you do not affirmatively request a Democrat Party ballot, you will be given a non-partisan ballot on June 7, and will not be able to vote in the Democrat Party Presidential Primary.
