Medi Bear Saves the Hospital is a children's book authored and designed by the collective wisdom of National Nurses United, the United States’ largest nurses union, offering a vision of action and change from one of the country’s most influential labor organizations.
Illustrated by Bonghyun Shin, the book features her signature styles of adorable characters, emotive faces, and illustrious settings.
The book is the story of a special bear who needs special care. Medi Bear lives in Forest Town with their family where, one day, they need to visit the Forest Town Hospital. Initially afraid to visit the Forest Town Hospital, Medi Bear quickly learns that the hospital isn’t such a scary place. Thanks to their new friend Nurse Owl, Medi Bear finds out the hospital is full of helpful friends there to keep everyone healthy.
But then Medi Bears sees on the news that a shark is threatening to shut down the Little Critter Care Unit at Forest Town Hospital. Because of that, Nurse Owl and the other nurses are protesting outside the hospital, showing Medi Bear and all of Forest Town how you can speak out against bad decisions at their local hospital.
Before long, it’s revealed that Mr. Shark is working with a far-away shark, Mr. Hammerhead, who wants to shut down the entire Forest Town Hospital. Medi Bear, Nurse Owl, and all their Forest Town friends join forces with a magical campaign bus to go all the way to where Mr. Hammerhead lives and demand their hospital stay open.
A tale of courage, conviction, and community care, Medi Bear Saves the Hospital is a story about how even the littlest critters can raise their voices together and make the world a better place.
