WHO WE ARE:

California Nurses Association (CNA)/National Nurses United (NNU) is leading the national movement for registered nurse power to transform the market-driven health care industry into a health care system based on patient need.  

National Nurses United, the nation's largest union of registered nurses, recognizes that providing equal bargaining rights is crucial to improving recruitment and retention and allowing RNs to advocate freely for patient safety and care. In California, California Nurses Association passed the historic RN Safe Staffing Law — the first of its kind nationwide.

A skilled Labor Representative who has experience in:  

  • Creative methods of addressing workplace issues to build power
  • Collective Bargaining
  • Grievance and Arbitration
  • Compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting pertinent data

The ideal candidate would relish the chance to:  

  • Build strong workplace committees
  • Develop local leadership
  • Mobilize members to fight against attacks on nurses and health care that prioritize dollars and profits over people.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE  

The Labor Representative is responsible for:  

  • All matters related to collective bargaining
  • Compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting pertinent data
  • Assisting in contract negotiations
  • Processing grievances and conducting arbitrations
  • Representing nurses in employment-related problems
  • Extensive travel to cover hospital facilities

ADDITIONAL & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Insatiable work ethic and drive to create systemic change
  • Demonstrated success at contract enforcement
  • Prior experience as a full-time Labor Representative a plus
  • Effectiveness in organizing membership participation
  • Developing rank and file leadership.

SALARY AND BENEFITS  

Competitive salary depending on experience $61,516-$177,967, and outstanding benefits offered, including comprehensive family health & dental plan, and generous pension.
