WHO WE ARE:

California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee is leading the national movement for registered nurse power to transform the market-driven health care industry in the United States into a health care system based on patient need.  

California Nurses Association passed the historic RN Safe Staffing Law — the first of its kind nationwide.

A skilled Labor Representative who has experience in:  

  • Grievance and Arbitration
  • Collective Bargaining
  • Compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting pertinent data
  • Creative methods of addressing workplace issues to build power
  • Organizing campaigns

The ideal candidate would relish the chance to:  

  • Build strong workplace committees
  • Develop local leadership
  • Educate members about alternatives to corporate control of health care
  • Mobilize members to fight against attacks on nurses and health care.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE  

The Labor Representative/Organizer is responsible for:  

  • All matters related to collective bargaining, including organizing nurses in private and public employment
  • Compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting pertinent data
  • Ideally negotiating contracts
  • Processing grievances and conducting arbitrations
  • Representing nurses in employment-related problems
  • When conditions become safe extensive regional travel

ADDITIONAL & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Insatiable work ethic and drive to create systemic change
  • Demonstrated success at contract negotiations and arbitrations
  • Prior experience as a full-time Labor Representative a plus
  • Effectiveness in organizing membership participation
  • Developing rank and file leadership.
  • Driver's license and insured car required.

SALARY AND BENEFITS  

Competitive salary depending on experience $61,516-$177,967, and outstanding benefits offered, including comprehensive family health & dental plan, and generous pension.
