Prime is committing crimes!

A notice from Prime Healthcare showing their illegal union busting efforts.

Here’s a quick update with breaking news: Prime Olympia Fields management is breaking the law — egregiously suspending nurses for organizing to protect our patients.

Right now, nurses at Olympia Fields Hospital in Olympia Fields, Illinois are organizing our union in order to secure safe staffing, improve patient safety and have a voice in patient care. Prime Healthcare responded by placing six nurses on unpaid leave of absence and told nurses that our organizing was not covered by the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). Their behavior is illegal and outrageous — and dangerous to our patients. Four of the six suspended nurses were from the emergency department.

“What Prime did to retaliate was not acceptable,” said Olympia Fields RN, Hillary Ferrell. “This is going to negatively impact patient care."

Nurses at Olympia Fields want what all nurses want: Better workplaces so we can take better care of our patients. Prime management doesn’t see it that way. Their flagrantly illegal crackdown on nurses is proof they will prioritize their own profits over patient care. And Prime did this because they know nurses are stronger together! That’s why we’re speaking out and rallying our colleagues, patients, and communities to help us stand up to CEO Luis Lyon, CNO Colleen Pawlik, and the rest of Prime Healthcare to secure the patient care conditions ALL nurses deserve.
