The largest union and professional association of registered nurses in the United States, National Nurses United, issued this statement in response to learning of the murders of couple Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky, two Israeli Embassy aides, in Washington, D.C.:

Nurses are profoundly saddened and horrified by the murders of this young couple who had their whole lives in front of them, and our hearts are with their family and friends over this unimaginable loss. As nurses, our mission is to heal and save lives, so we unequivocally condemn all violence that takes lives.

We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community and all communities living in fear of violence. As nurses, we believe all people cannot be healthy without feeling safe and respected and we will continue to fight for and embody these values. We call on the country to do the same. Hate is never the answer.
