Nurses at Northern Maine Medical Center (NMMC) in Fort Kent, Maine, will hold a press event on Saturday, Feb. 28 with gubernatorial candidate Troy Jackson, U.S. senatorial candidate Graham Platner, and Maine State Senate President Mattie Daughtry, who will speak out in support of nurses seeking to secure a strong first contract that puts patient safety before profits.

The union nurses, members of Maine State Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee (MSNA/NNOC), will release a public letter, affirming their support for their patients and their community, and their commitment to building a strong and effective union at their hospital.

NNOC is an affiliate of National Nurses United, the largest and fastest-growing labor union of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members nationwide.
