“Labor Day has a proud tradition here in New Orleans, where the labor movement is part of our history and part of our current struggle,” said Terry Mogilles, RN in the orthopedic clinic at UMCNO. “We’re proud to be joined by our community and our fellow nurses as we celebrate what it means to fight for better working conditions at our hospital for ourselves, our families, our patients, and the community we love. That’s the true Spirit of Charity.”

“Nurses’ working conditions are patients’ care conditions,” said Sandy Reding, RN and NNOC president. “Nurses from across the country have organized and fought for conditions that mean their patients get the best care. We’re beyond excited to join our nursing colleagues in New Orleans to show the world that when you take on one of us, you take on all of us.”

NNOC represents more than 600 nurses at UMCNO and is an affiliate of NNU, the country’s largest nurses union.
