National Nurses United endorses Will Lawrence for Michigan’s 7th District

Will Lawrence

National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members, today announced its endorsement of Will Lawrence for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District. As a cofounder of the Sunrise Movement, Lawrence has shown the leadership needed to secure progressive change.

“Nurses know hard work and dedication and believe Will Lawrence brings the progressive energy needed to flip Michigan’s 7th Congressional seat,” said NNU President Mary Turner, RN. “Will understands the crisis we’re in, and as an experienced organizer and coalition-builder, Will will bring those essential skills to Congress to win Medicare for All and an economy that works for everyone, not just the billionaires. We’re ready to work with Will to improve our patients’ lives and transform our health care system.”

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of NNU. Nurses are there for us in the hardest and most precious moments of our lives," said Will Lawrence. "They are the human heart keeping the 'care' in our broken health care system. I will work with NNU to make Medicare for All a reality, prioritize patients before CEO profits, and empower nurses to do their jobs safely, with dignity and job security."

NNU supports candidates who are committed to nurses’ values, including safe patient staffing in all hospitals across the country, protecting the rights of workers to organize, and guaranteeing health care to everyone. In a recent Gallup poll, nurses were voted the most trusted profession in the United States for the 24th consecutive year. NNU looks forward to helping elect Will Lawrence and working closely with him in Congress on the important issues that affect registered nurses, our patients, and our communities.
