National Nurses United endorses Peggy Flanagan for Minnesota
National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members, today announced its endorsement of Peggy Flanagan for U.S. Senate in Minnesota. As the lieutenant governor of Minnesota, she addressed inequities in health care by advancing programs to boost health outcomes for children, working families, and indigenous communities and communities of color.
“Minnesotans are currently fighting a coordinated assault on our immigrant communities in our state,” said NNU President Mary Turner, RN. “We need leaders who are ready to center the safety, health, and well-being of every one of our neighbors and community members. Nurses know Peggy Flanagan will fight for every Minnesotan and we’re ready to work with her.”
“I’m deeply honored to earn the endorsement of National Nurses United,” said Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan. “Nurses are trusted caregivers who show up every day for our families and our communities, and their union fights to make sure they have what they need to do that work safely and with dignity. From standing up to corporate greed in health care to fighting for Medicare for All and the right to organize, nurses are leading the fight for a future where people come first. When I go to the U.S. Senate, I’ll carry those values with me. I’m proud to stand with nurses and grateful to be in this fight together.”
NNU supports candidates who are committed to nurses’ values, including safe patient staffing in all hospitals across the country, protecting the rights of workers to organize, and guaranteeing health care to everyone. In a recent Gallup poll, nurses were voted the most trusted profession in the United States for the 24th consecutive year. NNU looks forward to helping elect Peggy Flanagan and working closely with her in Congress on the important issues that affect registered nurses, our patients, and our communities.
National Nurses United is the largest and fastest-growing union and professional association of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members nationwide.
