National Nurses United endorses Matt Dunlap for Maine’s 2nd District
National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members, today announced its endorsement of Matt Dunlap for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District. Throughout his decades of service, Matt has shown he is a person of real integrity. He has always put nurses and our patients first, and we know he'll stand up against corporate interests.
“Matt Dunlap has spent his career fighting for the people of Maine — and that’s exactly what he’ll do in Congress,” said Jamie Brown, RN and NNU president. “Matt won't be bought off by lobbyists or special interests. He knows the struggles of working people because that's where he came from. He was a union member himself, and he's always had labor’s back. He's been a champion for working people his whole life — nurses, union members, and everyone in between. National Nurses United is proud to endorse Matt Dunlap.”
“I am honored and humbled to earn the endorsement of National Nurses United,” said Matt Dunlap. “Nurses are on the front lines every day — caring for our communities, fighting for their patients, and standing up for what’s right. In Congress, I’ll fight alongside them for Medicare for All, safe staffing levels, a safe workplace, and fair contracts to support their families. Every Mainer knows how much nurses take care of us. We need to make sure they get taken care of too.”
NNU supports candidates who are committed to nurses’ values, including safe staffing in all hospitals across the country, protecting the rights of workers to organize, and guaranteeing health care to everyone. In a recent Gallup poll, nurses were voted the most trusted profession in the United States for the 24th consecutive year. NNU looks forward to helping elect Dunlap and working closely with him in Congress on the important issues that affect registered nurses, our patients, and our communities.
National Nurses United is the largest and fastest-growing union and professional association of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members nationwide. NNU affiliates include California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, DC Nurses Association, Michigan Nurses Association, Minnesota Nurses Association, and New York State Nurses Association.
