National Nurses United endorses Cori Bush for Missouri’s 1st District

Cori Bush

National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members, today announced our endorsement of Cori Bush for Missouri’s 1st Congressional District. While in office, Bush fought to protect nurses and patients with real solutions that comprehensively address the nurse staffing crisis, strengthen unions, protect working families, and guarantee health care for all. Nurses are ready to send Bush back to D.C.

“NNU is proud to endorse Cori Bush, a nurse and talented organizer, to Missouri’s 1st Congressional District,” said NNU President Mary Turner, RN. “While in office, Cori was steadfast in upholding nurses’ values of health care for all, reproductive freedom, clean air and water in our communities, and good-paying union jobs. This election is critical for our patients and the future of our health care. That’s why nurses are standing with Cori, a fighter who is ready to take on powerful special interests in Congress.”

“I am incredibly proud to once again be endorsed by National Nurses United,” said Cori Bush. “As the largest union of registered nurses in the country, NNU and I share a vision for a future where all of St. Louis has quality health care under a Medicare for All system, has their reproductive freedom protected, and can enjoy a healthy environment with clean water and clean air. I am honored to stand side by side with NNU as we fight for good-paying union jobs, equitable pay, and safe working conditions. As a nurse, I saw just how broken our health care system is. Corporate greed and special interests prevent patients from getting the care that they desperately need. Far too many people are left behind and forced to choose between suffering the financial burden that comes with receiving care or skipping treatments altogether because the costs are too high. In Congress, I’ll partner with NNU to ensure that our health care system works for everyone— patients and health care workers alike.”

NNU supports candidates who are committed to building a broad movement for transformative social change that includes safe patient staffing in all hospitals across the country, protecting the rights of workers to organize, and guaranteeing health care to everyone. NNU looks forward to helping elect Cori Bush and continuing to work closely with her in Congress on the important issues that affect registered nurses, our patients, and our communities.

In a recent Gallup poll, nurses were voted the most trusted profession in the United States for the 24th consecutive year. Nurses across the country trust Cori Bush as the candidate who embodies our values of caring, compassion, and community. NNU represents nearly 225,000 nurses across the nation and advocates for policies and legislation that improve the lives of nurses and communities everywhere.
