Hemet nurses ratify new contract with strong measures to improve patient safety and nurse retention
RNs at Hemet Global Medical Center ratify three-year contract on July 7
Registered nurses at Hemet Global Medical Center in Hemet, California, voted overwhelmingly in favor of ratifying a new three-year contract on July 7, winning protections to improve patient safety and nurse retention announced California Nurses Association/National Nurses United (CNA/NNU).
For months our nurses have been at the table and in the facility, voicing their concerns, showing their compassion, and demanding improvements, said Sharon Glisson, RN in the intensive care unit. We have won a fair contract that delivers real improvements for our patients, strengthens retention, and ensures meaningful support for our nurses.
Highlights of the contract include:
- Safe staffing improvements, including charge and resource RN language and standardized training.
- Workplace violence prevention language, including increased security and signage
- Economic gains to help retain and recruit experienced nurses. The new agreement includes a 15.5 percent wage increase over the life of the contract.
- No takeaways.
The new pact covers the period May 2026 to May 2028.
This victory reflects the power of unity, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to safe, quality care, said Jennie Price, RN in the post-anesthesia care unit. Together, we have made our voices heard and together, we have made change happen.
CNA represents more than 300 nurses at Hemet Global Medical Center.
