Registered nurses at Houlton Regional Hospital (HRH) in Houlton, Maine, released their letter of no confidence, following the Board of Trustees’ failure to respond to their concerns about CEO Jeff Zewe. The nurses, who are members of Maine State Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, had sent a petition of no confidence in Zewe to the board of trustees in July 2026.

Four formerly suspended registered nurses at Olympia Fields Hospital in Olympia Fields, Ill. have been reinstated and will return to work this week. By Sept. 15, Prime Healthcare had suspended or fired six nurses at Olympia Fields Hospital.

Debora Kapisha, RN, freed from ICE custody, returns home

Debora Kapisha, the registered nurse detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently at Portland International Jetport, has been released from ICE custody and is on her way home to Maine. Kapisha, a medical-surgical nurse at Maine Medical Center in Portland, is a member of Maine State Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee an affiliate of National Nurses United, the country’s largest nurses union.
