National Nurses United/California Nurses Association (NNU/CNA) is seeking a dynamic and talented Video Producer with a commitment to social justice and professional experience in social advocacy, and communications. The ideal candidate will have professional progressive experience and the ability to work in a demanding fast-paced environment to produce digital video.

This position is based in Oakland, California or Los Angeles, California.

Responsibilities

Producing video, from pre-production to post, including run and gun assignments featuring on-camera interviews about progressive, political topics, and creating short motion graphics or animations for social media. The video producer works at the direction of the communications director to create digital video using Canon camera equipment and Adobe CS software.

The video specialist will produce the following types of videos:

  • Short journalistic videos about labor, health care, and social justice for the web and social media
  • Longer format videos for live audience settings, such as conventions and classrooms
  • Motion graphics sequences / animated explainer videos
  • Sizzle reels or highlights of ripped news footage
  • Other motion graphic elements such as lower thirds and transitions for the social media team

Skills Required

  • Writing / story-telling
  • Shooting with professional, cinema-quality equipment, including lighting equipment and microphones, and knowledge of or ability to quickly learn use of Canon EOS C300, Canon EOS C80
  • Editing, combining multiple footage formats
  • Color correcting
  • Audio mixing
  • Conducting interviews
  • Directing professional freelance shooters, and amateur field staff shooters
  • Proficiency in Adobe CS on a Mac platform

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years experience as a Video Producer with at least 3 years of producing high quality video
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Willingness to be a team player with a positive attitude, as well as the ability to work independently manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and focus on follow-up.
  • Experience working in the field, filming in a variety of locations, while problem solving everything from location logistics to equipment issues.
  • Flexibility with work schedule as this position involves some travel, evening, and weekend work.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage, archive and maintain digital video files and determine best storage practices.
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in labor unions, health care, and a commitment to social justice.
  • Spanish fluency preferred but not required.

NNU/CNA provides a very competitive salary range ($98,616 - $118,632) and benefits package including full family and domestic partner coverage, medical, dental, pension and 401(k).
