Fremont nurses deliver notice for one-day strike for professional respect and patient care

Nurses represented by California Nurses Association/National Nurses United at Washington Hospital Healthcare System in Fremont, California, have given notice to their employer that they will hold a 24-hour strike from May 1 to May 2 to protest management’s lack of respect for the WHHS registered nurses. The move is historic, as this will be the first time nurses at Washington Hospital have ever filed to strike.
El Paso nurses attend rally

El Paso nurses rally as they begin new union contract negotiations with HCA

Nurses in El Paso, Texas, will hold a rally Thursday, April 25, at Las Palmas Medical Center as they begin negotiations on a new union contract with HCA, the facility’s owner. Nurses from both Las Palmas and Del Sol medical centers will attend and speak at the rally, and they say their key priorities for their new contract are intended to improve patient care and working conditions at their facility.

Machias nurses and technicians to hold two-day strike

RNs and technicians at Down East Community Hospital (DECH) in Machias, Maine, gave notice to their employer that they will hold a strike for two days, starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30 to protest the administration’s refusal to address their deep concerns about recruitment and retention.

Scholarships

CNA/NNOC offers scholarship awards to members who are enrolled in formal education programs or attending educational conferences, as well as for students enrolled in an Associate Degree Nursing program (or equivalent). Applications open April 1, 2024.
