Graphics Specialist
National Nurses United/California Nurses Association (NNU/CNA) seeks an experienced Graphics Specialist with a commitment to social justice and professional experience in social advocacy and communications. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in labor, social, and political issues and be an outstanding graphic designer with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

This position can be based in Oakland or Los Angeles, California.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with our Assistant Director Art and Design, our Graphics Lead, and our team of graphic designers in the communications department in a variety of applications, including print, web, social, and multimedia.
- Design and produce high-quality visual assets including (but not limited to):
- Print Collateral: brochures, flyers, reports, direct mail, etc.
- Print and Digital Advertising
- Environmental and Event Graphics
- Social Media and Digital Graphics
- Merchandise and Promotional Items
- Multimedia Graphics and Presentations
- Contribute to design strategy, campaign brainstorming, and creative ideation sessions.
- Collaborate with communications team members to gather and deliver content.
- You will report to and work under the direction of the NNU Communications Director.
Qualifications/Skills
- Exceptional working knowledge and experience with: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat at a minimum); as well as Microsoft Office and Google Suites, all in a Mac environment.
- Strong portfolio of design work displaying creative range across print, digital, and social formats.
- Strong understanding and skills in typography, layout, content hierarchy, and visual storytelling.
- Creative campaign strategy and branding background.
- Experience preparing vendor-ready print files.
- Photography, illustration, and/or motion graphics/animation skills a plus.
- Ability to work as a team and independently, in a fast-paced, feedback-driven environment, and highly capable of juggling multiple projects all under tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail a must.
- The ideal designer will have an interest in labor unions, health care, and social justice, and must be creative and willing to learn hands-on.
- Must have at least three to five years professional graphic design experience.
- Advanced level of English language proficiency, with a good grasp of grammar, and attention to detail; ability to copy edit.
- Must be able to work extended hours as needed.
- Light travel as needed.
NNU/CNA provides a very competitive salary range ($98,616 - $118,632) and benefits package including full family and domestic partner coverage, medical, dental, pension and 401(k).
