Digital Organizer

California Nurses Association/National Nurses United (CNA/NNU) is seeking a Digital Organizer to join its communications team. This position involves extensive work in developing digital campaign strategy to identify, recruit, and cultivate new organizing leads as well as in support of local, state, and national collective bargaining, legislative, regulatory, and other priority campaigns.

This position is based in Oakland, California or Los Angeles, California.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal teams to develop and execute digital communications strategies, leveraging email, peer-to-peer texting, digital ads, social media, web, and other tools, to complement overall campaign strategies.
  • Build a ladder of engagement to move supporters from online to offline action, with an emphasis on moving organizing prospects towards forming unions in their facilities.
  • Work with internal teams to develop concepts and creative for dynamic email campaigns to engage our list of nurses, health care workers, and community supporters.
  • Work with internal teams to plan and implement short-term peer-to-peer texting campaigns in support of union campaigns. Provide training and support for staff and volunteer users of peer-to-peer texting tools.
  • Coordinate with the social media team on the planning and implementation of paid social media ad campaigns in support of organizing and other union campaigns, to include onboarding of newly acquired names and treatment of these names in email and texting campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the social media team on the development and promotion of organic social media content that reflects campaign priorities.
  • Build, test, and deploy online action pages, surveys, and other online forms as necessary in support of campaign priorities.
  • Provide regular reporting and analysis of digital campaign performance for stakeholders.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • 2-3 years experience in digital communications work, preferably focused on union organizing or union communications. While we prefer union experience, we will consider training  a candidate with extensive experience on political campaigns.
  • Experience using key digital organizing tools like ActionKit, ThruText, Slack, Asana, Google Suite, etc.
  • Excellent writer with ability to meet short deadlines.
  • Some experience with graphic design is a plus.
  • Some experience with video and photo editing is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in labor unions, health care, and a commitment to social justice.
  • Commitment to organizational discipline.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and create solutions for long-term needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to function well as part of a team, and equally comfortable running with solo tasks.
  • Willingness to work hours and schedule as needed to complete projects and support organizational campaigns.

Competitive salary depending on skills and experience $93,618 - $114,501. Generous benefits package offered, including comprehensive family health and dental plan and generous pension.
