Data Services Clerk
About the Role
California Nurses Association/National Nurses United is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Data Services Clerk to join our team in Oakland, California. The Data Services Clerk will be responsible for accurately entering, maintaining, and updating organizational data across various systems and databases. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, is tech-savvy, and can meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately input, update, and maintain records in the organization’s database systems
- Review and verify source documents for accuracy and completeness before data entry
- Identify data discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies; report and assist with corrections as needed
- Generate standard reports and respond to data requests in a timely manner
- Organize and maintain digital files and records to ensure data security and accessibility
- Assist with preparing data for audits, compliance checks, or internal reviews
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth data flow and process efficiency
- Follow established data entry and management procedures, ensuring confidentiality and data integrity
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1–2 years of experience in data entry, data management, or a clerical/administrative role
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and database systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
- Experience with data confidentiality and compliance best practices a plus
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with CRM systems or specialized database software
- Ability to analyze and interpret basic data reports
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new tools and processes
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or AWS
- Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices
- Business acumen and the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies
Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive salary in the range of $75,000- $85,000 depending on experience, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement contributions, and professional development opportunities.
