Medicare for all CA Bus tour: In West Covina Tonight SiCKO ‘Sisters’ Reunite

Today in West Covina, the California Nurses Association summer 2012 Medicare for all bus tour will come to a close. After visiting 18 other California cities since June 19, the nurses will wrap up this run with a bang and with clarity. Three of the subjects of Michael Moore’s 2007 documentary film SiCKO will be on hand to help lead others in sharing their stories of struggle and frustration with the broken healthcare system.

So I was outraged by The Detroit News' distorted editorial about a bill to require all Michigan hospitals to meet minimal levels of nurse staffing (March 14, "State shouldn't mandate hospital staffing levels").

CNA RNs from 5 LA Southbay hospitals closest to the major oil refineries attended a special meeting arranged for CNA and neigborhood groups who oppose “tar sands” crude being processed in Wilmington’s Valero refinery. Tar Sands crude is a thick, dirty crude high in sulphur and much more toxic than regular crude. It has been condemned by leading environmental scientists as ‘extremely dangerous’ and the ‘beginning of the end’ where pollution will tip global warming until the point of no return.
