Immediate Opening!

The California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee (CNA/NNOC) seeks an experienced labor representative. CNA/NNOC is leading the national movement for registered nurse power to transform the market-driven health care industry in the United States into a health care system based on patient need. In California we passed the historic RN Safe Staffing Law — the first of its kind nationwide.

We seek an experienced labor representative who enjoys developing and working with strong members and who shares our vision of nurses leading a national movement for health care justice. One available route is based in the affordable communities of Modesto, Tracy, and Pleasanton.

This is more than an ordinary union job; we seek a skilled Labor Representative who wants to use their skills strategically. The ideal candidate would relish the chance to build strong workplace committees, develop local leadership, educate members about alternatives to corporate control of health care, and mobilize members to fight against attacks on nurses and healthcare.

POSITION AVAILABLE: NORTHERN CALIFORNIA LABOR REPRESENTATIVE

CNA/NNOC is seeking an experienced Northern California labor representative. The labor representative is responsible for all matters related to collective bargaining, including organizing nurses in private and public employment; compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting pertinent data; ideally negotiating contracts; processing grievances and conducting arbitrations; and representing nurses in employment-related problems. It would be nice if you have had demonstrated success at contract negotiations and arbitrations. The ideal candidate has had prior experience as a full-time labor representative, plus effectiveness in organizing membership participation and developing rank-and-file leadership. However we may consider training a candidate who has extensive years of successful full-time union organizing experience.

Salary and Benefits:

Excellent salary depending on experience, and outstanding benefits offered, including comprehensive family health & dental plan, domestic partner coverage, and generous pension.

Please submit a résumé and cover letter. Please indicate within your letter which geographical locations in California you are willing to consider and if you have served as First Chair or lead negotiator please describe successful contracts you have helped to negotiate. Be sure to fill out the one page form.
