Nurses #BernieBus Steps on the Gas in Final Push to Register Voters Before Deadline Monday

RNs to fan out at Bernie rallies, LA Trade Tech

Encouraged and energized by Senator Bernie Sanders success and California’s record-breaking numbers of new voters, nurses on the #BernieBus are re-doubling their voter registration efforts throughout Los Angeles Monday.

The registered nurses, members of National Nurses United, will be working the crowds at two rallies tomorrow for Senator Bernie, before heading to Los Angeles Trade–Technical College, a public community college. They will continue their campaign swing in Southern California with stops at college campuses, hospitals and senior centers in Orange, Riverside, and San Diego Counties through the end of the week, before heading back up the coast.

#BernieBus Stops—Monday

Morning: Bernie rally
Noon: LA Trade Tech
Afternoon: Bernie rally-Santa Monica High School

“Our nurses have been all over the state on the #BernieBus this month, discussing the issues that matter most to Californians and reminding people to register to vote by the May 23 deadline,” said California Nurses Association Co-President Zenei Cortez. “For the first time in a long time, California is a pivotal primary state, and nurses are in it to win it for Bernie.” There are a total of 548 democratic primary delegates from California.

As the #BernieBus tour has traversed America, from Maine to California and Florida to Oregon nurses have emphasized Sanders’ commitment to guaranteed healthcare for all, assuring equal educational opportunity for all by making public colleges and universities tuition free, raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and creating millions of good paying jobs by rebuilding the nation’s crumbling infrastructure, real action on climate change, and broad criminal justice reform, as well as opposition to unfair trade pacts.

National Nurses United is the largest union of nurses in the country, with 186,000 members in 50 states—and was the first national union to endorse Sanders, in August 2015.
