As the audience cheered the news that JP Morgan’s Jamie Dimon cowered in through a back door at the Rayburn House Office Building in DC as the nurses met him in full Robin Hood attire and with the message of supporting the Robin Hood Tax, the San Diego crowd had no difficulty connecting the need for the tax with their desire for a universal healthcare plan for California.  A Robin Hood Tax of just half a penny on the dollar of all sales of financial transactions on Wall Street could raise more than $350 billion annually and could be used for implementation of a truly universal healthcare plan.

The Medicare for all tour moves on to Santa Ana followed by San Bernardino next and a full schedule is available for the 19 stops along the way.  Tonight at The Dehli Center, 505 E. Central Ave, in Santa Ana.

From the audience, nurses heard community members relay stories of great suffering and stress related to Californian’s inability to access care and fears about what the Supreme Court ruling on Obamacare might mean for working families.  Earlier in the day, the nurses spearheaded health screenings with other members of the coalition, Campaign for a Healthy California.

The tour includes a stop at the Organizing for Healthcare Justice Summer Conference at UCLA on July 7 and 8.
